What fragrance-free means on our label, and what it does not

Direct answer

Fragrance-free means no fragrance was added to make the product smell a certain way. It does not mean every ingredient is odorless. AuraAnn Mineral Cream contains lavender and chamomile extracts as part of its base. They are listed by name so you can decide for yourself, and they are not there to perfume the cream.

Fragrance versus scent

In cosmetic labeling, fragrance means an ingredient or blend added for its smell. It can be listed simply as fragrance or parfum without disclosing what is in it. A fragrance-free product has none of that. It can still have a faint natural scent from oils, extracts, or the base itself.

AuraAnn Mineral Cream has no added fragrance and no ingredient hiding behind the word parfum. Every ingredient is named.

Why lavender and chamomile are in the base

The cream is built on an emollient base that includes several botanical extracts: aloe, chamomile, lavender, rice bran, and sunflower. They were chosen by the base formulator as skin-conditioning ingredients. We keep them because the base performs well and because removing them would make it a different product.

That said, lavender and chamomile are among the botanicals that some sensitive people react to. If you know you do, patch test first or skip the cream. We would rather you know than be surprised.

What we will not claim

We do not say hypoallergenic on this site. The word has no legal definition, and we do not yet have the testing file that would let us use it responsibly. We do say fragrance-free, steroid-free, and paraben-free, because each of those is a checkable fact from the ingredient list.^ART-01
